TMD: A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO DIAGNOSIS

Course Outline:
Temporomandibular disorder is an umbrella term which encompasses a number of pathologies associated with the masticatory system. This presentation will take a fresh look the contributing factors, diagnostic techniques and treatment modalities based on current evidence and the new RCDSO guidelines.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of the course the clinician will be able to:

  1. To understand the pathophysiologies which contribute to TMD
  2. To be able to diagnose different presentations of TMD
  3. To understand the role of conservative and surgical treatment modalities
  4. To effectively manage TMD cases within the RCDSO guidelines

 


TREATMENT AND OFFICE ORAL SURGERY, TIPS & TRICKS

Course Outline:
This presentation will focus on how to do common surgical procedures faster and better. How to avoid pitfalls and how to deal with sequelae and complications. Topic covered will include extractions with the intent of placing implants, recognizing which wisdom teeth are straight forward and which are not, simple socket preservation and grafting techniques as well as an introduction to PRP. 

Learning Objectives:
By the end of the course the clinician will be able to:

  1. To learn how to approach extractions, wisdom teeth and grafting.
  2. To identify cases to avoid before you start.
  3. To understand deal with common sequelae and complications.

 


Biography:

Dr. Freund did his medical training at McMaster University and received his dental and specialist training at the University of Toronto. He practices Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at the Chrysalis Dental Centre in Toronto limited to immediately loaded implant rehabilitation, neuromuscular dysfunction and minimally invasive facial rejuvenation. He is a director of the Canadian Society for Neurotoxins in Pain and the Pinnacle Academy of Learning. He was previously an examiner for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. His area of research is focused on the novel applications of neuromodulators in the head and neck. He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally as well as authored numerous scientific papers.
