INFECTION CONTROL GUIDELINES FOR DENTAL OFFICES IN OTTAWA: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

CATEGORY 2 OR 3 - 3.5 CE CREDITS

Infection Control standards in Ontario have changed and every public health care worker in Ontario should understand these guidelines. IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) core competencies must be understood by all dental health care workers regardless of their position in the dental office. The standards were established such that all staff are trained in infection prevention and control, to provide a safe work environment and to establish patient safety.

The Ottawa Dental Society has organized an information evening featuring Dr. Chris Swayze from RCDSO, Catherine Richard from OPH (Ontario Public Health), and Donna Perron from OPH (Ottawa Public Health). Each representative will provide ODS members and their staff with an overall message about Infection Prevention and Control guidelines as well as provide information specific to Ottawa-area practices. There will be a Q&A period after the presentations.

Course Outline: (RCDSO presentation)
Dr. Chris Swayze will review the College’s current Guidelines, changes to IPAC and ways to implement changes in a dental practice. He will also give examples, both positive and negative.
